Potassium dihydrogen phosphate, also referred to as Monopotassium phosphate and commonly abbreviated as MKP, has the chemical formula KH 2 PO 4 . This compound appears as white crystals or a white powder, and is odorless and stable in air. It has a relative density of 2.338 and a melting point of 96℃. At 400℃, it undergoes a transformation to potassium pyrophosphate upon loss of water.
MKP is highly soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution is acidic, with a pH ranging from 4.4 to 4.7.
