Industrial-grade monoammonium phosphate, known in Chinese as ammonium dihydrogen phosphate and commonly abbreviated as TMAP, has a chemical formula NH4H2PO4 and a molecular weight of 115.03. This substance is typically found in the form of a white powder or granular material, with granular products having high particle compressive strength. It has a melting point of 190℃, a density of 1.803 at 18℃, and a solubility of 41.6 g/100g at 25℃. The pH of a 1% aqueous solution is 4.5.
It is easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, and insoluble in dimethyl ketone. The compound remains stable at room temperature, does not possess redox properties, and does not combust or explode when exposed to high temperatures, acids, alkalis, or redox substances. It exhibits good solubility in water and acids, with the powdered form being somewhat hygroscopic. Furthermore, it displays excellent thermal stability and dehydrates at high temperatures to produce viscous chain compounds like ammonium pyrophosphate, ammonium polyphosphate, and ammonium metaphosphate.
