Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliability of a rotary evaporator. Key tasks include cleaning glassware immediately after use to prevent residue buildup, regularly inspecting and replacing vacuum pump oil if used, and checking seals and O-rings for wear or damage, replacing them as needed to maintain a good vacuum. The condenser coolant should be kept clean and at the proper level. The rotating shaft seal may require occasional lubrication with compatible grease.
