Introduction about drying oven
The drying process is governed by physics. Conduction transfers heat from the hot air to the surface of the sample. Convection (natural or forced) replaces the cooled, moisture-laden air near the sample with fresh, hot, dry air, maintaining the driving force for evaporation. Inside porous samples, moisture moves to the surface via capillary action or diffusion.
Radiation from the hot chamber walls also contributes to heating, especially for items not directly in the airflow. An efficient oven optimizes all three modes of heat transfer—conduction, convection, and radiation—to deliver energy to the samples uniformly and efficiently, driving the mass transfer (moisture removal) process to completion.
