Stainless steel metal layer serves as a protective material in pipeline cold insulation engineering. When combined with thermal insulation materials, moisture-proof treatment, and proper construction specifications, it delivers efficient cold insulation, corrosion resistance, and structural stability.
Function and Selection of Stainless Steel Metal Layer
Protective Layer Functions: 0.5mm thick stainless steel plate wraps cold insulation materials to provide:
  • Mechanical protection against external impacts and friction
  • Moisture-proof barrier and corrosion resistance, especially against chloride ions
  • Continuous sealing through lap or bite joints to minimize cold loss
Applicable Scenarios:
  • Low-temperature pipelines (LNG, chilled water systems) withstanding -180°C to ambient temperature differences
  • Highly corrosive environments (chemical plants, coastal areas) where stainless steel outperforms carbon steel
