Temperature and Material Verification

The higher published process-temperature capability does not mean every component of the installation may operate at 538°C. Confirm housing temperature, stem heat transfer, capillary routing, diaphragm material, polymer chemistry and machine operating cycle. The H option code should be verified against the applicable Gefran configuration documentation rather than interpreted from appearance.

Installation Requirements

Prepare the mounting hole to the correct depth and thread specification. Prevent the diaphragm from contacting the bottom of the hole or hardened process residue. Route and support the flexible capillary so that vibration, sharp bending and mechanical abrasion are minimized.

Electrical Connection

The K31 supplies a low-level strain-gauge signal. Verify bridge excitation, connector pinout, shielding, controller sensitivity and full-scale calibration. The sensor cannot be connected directly to an input configured exclusively for 4–20 mA without an appropriate signal-conditioning interface.

Differences from M3 and W3

M31-6-M-P05M-1-4-D F008650 has the same nominal pressure range but uses mercury filling and has a lower published maximum process temperature. W31 oil-filled models use FDA-compatible diathermic oil and are intended for a different temperature range. Filling medium and diaphragm option are selection-critical characteristics.
