Bently Nevada 330102-05-55-10-02-05 is one of the 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probes used in machinery protection systems, mainly for turbines, compressors, pumps, etc. It’s a non-contact sensor, so it monitors shaft vibration and position by measuring the gap change between probe tip and shaft.
- Measurement / function: It works through eddy current principle. In simple terms, it just keeps an eye on how the shaft is moving. When everything is normal, the signal is stable. Once vibration or misalignment starts, you’ll see the change quickly. The linear range is around 2.0 mm, which is usually enough for standard radial vibration monitoring.
- Build / mechanical design:
The probe is built for harsh industrial environments. Stainless steel body, armored cable, threaded structure—nothing delicate here. The tip is made of PPS material, so it handles heat and chemical exposure pretty well. In real plants like refineries or power stations, this kind of rugged design matters more than it sounds.
- Connection / installation: Cable length is 1 meter, so it’s typically used for short-distance installation. Most of the time it connects directly to a Proximitor or nearby junction box. The ClickLoc connector is quite practical—once it’s locked, it usually stays stable even under vibration, which helps reduce maintenance issues.
- Certification / usage scope: The -05 version is the globally approved one. It covers standards like ATEX, IECEx, and CSA, so it can be used in hazardous areas. That’s why you’ll often see it in oil & gas, petrochemical plants, offshore platforms, and large power generation projects.
- Radial Vibration: Monitoring shaft stability in turbines, compressors, and pumps.
- Axial Position: Measuring thrust bearing wear and rotor movement.
- Phase Reference: Serving as a Keyphasor® for speed and timing measurements.
