Working Principle of Grayscale Film
1. Grayscale Implementation Methods
There are two main technical paths:
Density Modulation(OD Control):By controlling the optical density of the material,different intensities of light are transmitted through different areas to achieve continuous or graded grayscale.
Area Modulation(Halftone):Simulate grayscale effects by using tiny dot matrices of different sizes or densities(similar to printing dots)through the"number of dots".
2. Light Energy Distribution Control
During exposure or photolithography processes,different grayscale areas correspond to different light energies:high light transmission area→high exposure energy,
low light transmission area→low exposure energy.This can form structures of different depths or heights on photoresist,photosensitive materials or other media.
3. Grayscale to 3D Structure Conversion
This is one of the most important capabilities of grayscale film:
Through a single exposure,multi-height structures(3D contours),continuous slopes(gradient structures),microlenses or curved structures can be realized without multiple alignment exposures.
