Depending on their structure, these devices are primarily divided into three types: centrifugal (using a high-speed rotating disk to eject droplets, offering high processing capacity and broad applicability, suitable for large-scale production); pressure-based (using a high-pressure pump to spray liquid through nozzles, producing relatively coarse particles with good sphericity, commonly used in the ceramic or detergent industries); and air-assisted (utilizing compressed air to disperse the liquid, resulting in uniform atomization fineness but higher energy consumption, typically used in laboratories or for small-batch, high-value-added products). 

In actual operation, precise control of process parameters directly affects the final product quality. The inlet temperature, outlet temperature, and atomization pressure must be coordinated and balanced: excessively high temperatures may deactivate heat-sensitive substances, while too low temperatures can result in excessive residual moisture; changes in atomization pressure alter droplet size, thereby influencing the powder's bulk density and solubility. Modern equipment typically features PLC-based automatic control systems that monitor and adjust parameters in real time, ensuring consistency between batches. 

In addition, for organic solvent materials, the equipment can be designed as a closed-loop system using nitrogen as the heat-carrying gas to ensure safe solvent recovery and prevent explosion risks. Although spray drying technology offers rapid instantaneous evaporation, it inherently suffers from issues such as wall adhesion and relatively low thermal efficiency. These drawbacks are being gradually mitigated through structural optimization of the tower, use of cold air jackets, and waste heat recovery systems. Due to its irreplaceable role in fields such as milk powder, antibiotic coffee extracts, and nanomaterial precursors, spray drying technology continues to evolve toward larger scale, greater intelligence, and improved energy efficiency.
