The steam-heated paddle dryer is a horizontal, continuous mixing-type drying equipment primarily based on heat conduction. It is named for its core component—the hollow stirring paddles—which resemble oars. The working principle involves introducing steam into the jacketed W-shaped shell and the interior of the hollow paddle shafts. Heat is then indirectly transferred to the material through the walls of the shell and paddles, causing moisture to evaporate. During operation, two hollow paddle shafts rotate in opposite directions, agitating and mixing the material to continuously renew the heat transfer surface, thereby enhancing drying efficiency. Adjacent paddles interlock, providing self-cleaning functionality that effectively prevents material from adhering to the walls.

This equipment features high thermal efficiency and low energy consumption, with heat loss occurring only through insulation layer dissipation. Little or no carrier gas is required to remove moisture.
