Water‑based Polyurethane Waterproof Coating Construction Procedure
- Substrate Preparation Make substrate solid and flat. Remove dust, oil and loose mortar. Repair cracks and holes with repair mortar. Damp substrate is acceptable, standing‑water is forbidden.
- Detail Reinforcement Apply 1‑2 coats of coating as extra reinforcement layer for corners, pipe roots, floor drains and construction joints. The width of extra layer ≥250 mm on each side. Proceed to main‑area construction after drying.
- Material Stirring One‑component product. Stir thoroughly after opening bucket. Do not dilute with water arbitrarily. Seal bucket lid during construction break to prevent skin formation caused by water evaporation.
- Multi‑layer Application Apply by brush, roller or trowel. Apply thin coats repeatedly; heavy single‑coat is prohibited. Apply next coat after previous coat dries, paint in cross directions to reach designed film thickness. Drying speed slows down under high‑humidity and low‑temperature, extend interval time properly.
- Curing & Drying Natural curing and drying. Protect coating from rain, ponding, treading and sharp‑object damage during curing.
- Inspection & Water‑storage Test Check for missing coating, pinholes, bubbles and other defects after full drying. Carry out 24‑48‑hour water‑storage test for water‑holding areas to ensure no leakage.
- Protective Layer Construction Construct cement‑mortar protective layer after acceptance. It has average UV resistance. Protective covering is required for exposed areas, direct exposure is not recommended.
