Today I want to highlight some of the capabilities we have for manufacturing high reliability PCBs that can withstand extreme environments. Here are some key details on our process and quality:
PCB Material:
- RO4350B hydrocarbon ceramic laminates are utilized which are lead-free and can be operated from -40°C to +85°C. This material provides excellent thermal performance and dimensional stability across a wide temperature range.
Stackup:
- For rigorous applications, a 2-layer rigid PCB is often recommended with the following stackup:
- 35um finished copper is used
- 10mil RO4350B dielectric is used
- 35um finished copper is used
- This provides good signal integrity and routing space while minimizing thickness.
Construction:
- Dimensions are held to 29mm x 48mm with tight tolerances of +/- 0.15mm
- Fine lines and spaces down to 7/7 mils can be achieved.
- Minimum hole size of 0.2mm is used.
- Board thickness is precisely controlled to 0.83mm.
- 1 oz (1.4 mil) finished copper weight is used on all layers.
- 1 mil plated through hole via thickness is used.
- Immersion gold surface finish is used.
Quality and Testing:
- No silkscreen is used to eliminate risk of contamination.
- Solder masks are eliminated in high temp products.
- 100% electrical testing is used to ensure reliability.
- Compliance to IPC Class 2 standards is maintained.
