Steel Ball Impact Test Apparatus for Testing the Mechanical Strength of Enclosures

1. Introduction

A sample consisting of complete enclosure is supported in its normal position, a solid smooth steel ball with 50mm diameter and 500g±25g mass is permitted to fall freely from rest through a vertical distance of 1.3m onto the sample. In addition, the steel ball is suspended by a cord and swung as pendulum in order to apply a horizontal impact to vertical surfaces, dropping through a vertical distance of 1.3m onto the sample, alternatively, the sample is rotated 90 degrees about each of its horizontal axes and the ball dropped as in the vertical impact test. the impact test is applied to the face of a cathode ray tube, the platen glass of equipment, the surface of enclosure of stationary equipment and a flat panel display.

The ball impact test is to meet the test requirements of IEC60598-1 clause 4.13.4 (a), IEC60950-1 clause 4.2.5, AS-NZS61439.4 clause 10.2.6.2 and IEC60601-1 clause 15.3.3. it is to verify if the enclosures of ME equipment, IT equipment and rough service luminaires have sufficient mechanical strength to protect against unacceptable risk. 

The steel ball impact test apparatus can perform both vertical impact test to horizontal surfaces of enclosures, and pendulum impact test to vertical surfaces of enclosure. The stroke height can be customized according to DUT.

1).  Our DUT is larger than you mentioned in specification sheet, can we use this equipment? 

 Pego: Yes, the equipment can customized as per the samples, and the stroke height is adjustable at the range of 1.3m to a high end. 

2). Can we buy the impact ball only? 

Pego: Yes, the steel impact ball can be sold separately. 

3). How you packed the equipment?

Pego: the equipment will be packed with woodencase and shipped as a whole.
