Scrape Abrasion Test Apparatus with a 0.45mm abrasion Needle for Testing Automotive Cables Compliant to ISO6722-1 and ISO19642-2
Introduction
The scrape abrasion test apparatus is a specialized device designed to evaluate the abrasion resistance of automotive cables. It complies with international standards including ISO6722-1 clause 5.12.4.2 and figure 7, ISO 19642-2 clause 5.3.2.5 and figure 4, DIN72551-5, QC/T-730, JASO D611-94, and VW60306.
The apparatus consists of:
- A device to abrade the surface of the test sample's insulation
- A counter to record the number of cycles until failure
The needle abrades through the insulation until contact with the conductor is made, at which point the apparatus automatically stops. Testing can be performed in two ways:
- Scraping at a controlled speed until sample failure, recording the number of cycles
- Applying a specific vertical force for a fixed number of cycles, then examining the sample for cracks or breakage
