Cable Snatch Test Apparatus for Checking Mechanical Strength of Complete Cables Compliant with IEC60227
Introduction
The cable snatch test apparatus is designed to meet the test requirements of IEC60227-2:2003 clause 3.3 and IEC60227-1:1998 clause 5.6.3.3 for checking the mechanical strength of completed cables.
A sample of cord of appropriate length shall be attached by one end to a rigid support and a weight having a mass of 0.5KG shall be secured to the sample 0.5m below the point of attachment. A current of about 0.1A shall be passed through the conductors. The weight shall be raised to the point of attachment and then dropped five times. During the test, interruption of the current shall not occur.
