Cold Bend Test Apparatus for Testing the Cable Insulation at Low Temperature Compliant to IEC60811
Introduction
The cold bend test apparatus is designed according to IEC60811-504, IEC60811-1-4 clause 8.1 and figure 1, IEC60884-1, VDE0472, GB2951.4 and GB2099-94 standards for conducting bending tests at low temperatures on cable insulation.
This apparatus is suitable for:
- Cores of circular cross-section with external diameter up to 12.5mm
- Sector-shaped cores when dumb-bell preparation isn't possible
- Cables with overall diameter up to 12.5mm
- Flat cables with major axis dimension up to 20mm
The system consists of a revolving mandrel and guiding device, which must be held in a suitable low temperature cabinet before and during testing. The mandrel diameter is between 4-5 times the test piece diameter. After testing, specimens are examined while still on the mandrel - the insulation must show no cracks under normal or corrected vision.
