ASTM D2274 and ISO 12205 Distillate Fuel Oxidation Stability Test Equipment (Accelerated Oxidation Method)
The Test Method of this Distillate Fuel Oxidation Stability Test Equipment is that a filtered quantity of the sample is placed into an oxidation tube, through which oxygen is passed at a rate of 50 mL/min. The sample is oxidized at a specified temperature for 16 hours. After oxidation, the sample is cooled to room temperature and filtered to obtain filterable insoluble matter.
Adherent insoluble matter is washed from the walls of the oxidation tube and matching tubes using a tri-solvent mixture, which is then evaporated to recover the adherent insoluble matter.
The total insoluble matter is the sum of filterable insoluble matter and adherent insoluble matter, expressed in mg/100 mL.
This instrument is not applicable to residual fuel oils or synthetic fuel oils whose main components are non-petroleum based.
