5086-an aluminum alloy, the main alloying element is magnesium. It is not strengthened by heat treatment, but becomes stronger due to strain hardening or cold machining of the material. Since heat treatment does not strongly affect the strength, 5086 can be easily welded and retain most of its mechanical strength. 5086 has good weldability and corrosion properties in seawater, so it is very suitable for ship gangways and ship/yacht hulls. It is considered a sister alloy of aluminum 5083, with comparable properties, but slightly lower strength.

It is the same as 5083 aluminum plate and 5052 aluminum plate. These 5 series aluminum-magnesium alloys are the most common marine grade aluminum plates. Similarly, 5086 aluminum plate is also a typical anti-rust alloy, and the content of its main alloy component Mg directly affects its anti-corrosion performance. Comparing these typical 5-series marine grade aluminum plates, it is not difficult to find that the Mg content of these plates is arranged from high to low to 5083,5086,5052 aluminum plates. Therefore, they are used differently in various ship types such as yachts, fishing boats, sand boats, and various ship parts. In addition, 5086 alloy plate has good weldability and medium strength, and is widely used in the manufacture of fuel tank materials, coal trucks, pressure vessels and transportation equipment, etc. It is also a high-quality raw material for oxide materials and grid plates.

1. Corrosion resistance. 5086 aluminum plate has basic anti-corrosion ability for air, water (or salt water), petrochemical and other media. In addition, it has strong corrosion resistance in extremely strong industrial and marine atmospheric environments and deep water environments.

2. No low temperature brittleness. Even if it is below 0°C, the strength and plasticity of 5086 aluminum sheet will not decrease with the increase in temperature, but will increase, and there will be no low temperature brittleness.

3. Surface treatment. The 5086 aluminum plate has undergone a good surface anodic oxidation treatment. In addition, after the surface of 5086 aluminum grid plate is embossed, the pattern is clear, smooth and bright.
