INTENDED USE

   Inhibins are polypeptides belonging to the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily which also includes TGF-β, activin
glycoproteins and AMH (Anti- Müllerian hormone). All members of this family play a role in the growth and differentiation of tissues.
Inhibin B consists of an α-subunit and a β-subunit. Inhibin B is produced by the sertoli cells of the testis in the male and the granulosa
cells of the ovary in the female. Its primary role appears to be in the regulation of gametogenesis via negative feedback on the production
of FSH. Several published reports indicate the utility of measurement of inhibin B as an endocrine marker for monitoring the male1-5 and
female6-15 gonadal function.
