304 Stainless Steel Coil Characteristics:

304 stainless steel coil is a low carbon, molybdenum bearing, austenitic stainless steel coil. Its chemistry features a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel.

These grade stainless steel coils are used for its corrosion resistance to many chemical corrodents, in addition to having good mechanical properties. For oxidizing acids, it is found in experiments that 304 stainless steel steel plates have strong corrosion resistance in nitric acid with a concentration of ≤65% and below the boiling temperature. The corrosion resistance of grade 304 stainless steel makes it ideal for food processing equipment and surgical instruments.

304 stainless steel coil is a universal stainless steel material, and its anti-rust performance is stronger than that of 200 series stainless steel materials. High temperature resistance is also better. It has superior formability and weld ability when compared to other grades of stainless steel.

The melting range is 2,550 – 2,650°F (1,399 – 1,454°C).

304 has a high chromium content (between 18% and 20%) as well a a nickel content between 8% and 12%. Additionally, the ultra low carbon variant of 304 has just slightly less carbon (.03% vs .08%).
