The addition of Molybdenum (Mo) in TP316L provides enhanced resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion compared to 304 series, making it ideal for chloride-containing environments.

The "L" grade denotes a maximum carbon content of 0.030%, which minimizes the risk of carbide precipitation during welding and exposure to the sensitization temperature range (425-860°C), thus preventing intergranular corrosion.
