Alkyd resin-based paints exhibit robust structural interactions at the molecular level, enabling the formation of durable films that effectively shield surfaces from aging, weathering, and mechanical wear. Historically, alkyd resins were among the earliest binders adopted in the construction sector, particularly for formulating exterior paints, enamels, and coatings designed for harsh environments, such as ferrous metal substrates (e.g., structural steel, railings, machinery).

 In this study, enamel paints and iron oxide red primers were developed using water-soluble alkyd resins. Their performance was assessed through adhesion, viscosity, drying time, gloss, impact resistance, hardness, flexibility, and salt spray chamber tests to evaluate corrosion resistance. Comparative analysis revealed that coatings formulated with alkyd resin WL-0310B demonstrated superior mechanical strength and anti-corrosive properties relative to other water-soluble polymers tested.
