Fumaric Acid is widely used as a food-grade acidulant with notable bacteriostatic and preservative properties. It also functions as an acidity regulator, acidifier, heat-oxidation stabilizer, curing accelerator, and flavor enhancer.
 

As an acidic component in effervescent formulations, fumaric acid helps generate fine, long-lasting bubbles, enhancing both texture and sensory experience in beverages and tablets.
 

In the pharmaceutical industry, it serves as an important intermediate in the synthesis of sodium dimercaptosuccinate (alexipharmic agent) and ferrous fumarate (iron supplement). It can also be applied as an optical brightening agent.
