Product Basic Attributes

KE-45 is a one-component, room temperature curing silicone sealant based on silicone polymer technology, utilizing an oxime-cure mechanism. It cures upon exposure to atmospheric moisture, forming a flexible seal with excellent temperature resistance and rubber-like elasticity without requiring heat. It is available in a range of colors: Translucent, White, Black, Red, Reddish Brown, Brown, Gray, and Ivory.

 

Product Introduction

Shin-Etsu KE-45 Silicone Sealant is engineered to meet the bonding and sealing demands of the electronics industry. Its paste-like viscosity allows for easy dispensing and application, forming reliable electrical insulation and protective barriers. Upon full cure, KE-45 exhibits outstanding physical properties, including high elongation (350%), good tensile strength (2.0 MPa), and excellent adhesion strength to metals (e.g., Aluminum) and plastics (Tensile Shear Adhesion Strength 1.0 MPa). Its superior electrical insulation properties (Volume Resistivity 5 TΩ·m, Dielectric Strength 23 kV/mm, low Dielectric Constant 3.0, and low Dissipation Factor 0.005 at 50Hz) make it an ideal encapsulant and bonding material for electronic components. Curing occurs under standard conditions (23±2°C, 50±5% RH) in approximately 7 days.

 

Product Special Attributes

The core advantages of KE-45 lie in its exceptionally wide service temperature range (-40°C to +180°C), where it maintains excellent rubber elasticity for long-term sealing and bonding reliability. Its unique oxime-cure mechanism allows for convenient room temperature application. The product features good thermal conductivity (0.21 W/m·K), aiding heat dissipation from electronic components. KE-45 achieves UL94 HB flame retardancy, enhancing application safety. Its broad adhesion to various substrates (metals, plastics) is another key attribute. Important considerations: Its cure speed is influenced by ambient temperature and humidity; deep-section cure capability is limited, making it unsuitable for large-area bonding; it releases oxime during cure, requiring good ventilation; it has been reported to potentially corrode copper metal; and electrical insulation properties may be temporarily reduced during the curing process.

KE-45 is widely used for bonding, sealing, potting, and coating in electronic and electrical equipment, particularly where superior electrical insulation, environmental sealing, temperature resistance, and shock/vibration damping are critical. Typical applications include:
