Sch 40 Carbon Steel Pipe Short Radius Butt Weld Elbow
Description
A short radius elbow is one time the diameter of the pipe, also known as 1D. The radius of curvature of an elbow is equal to one time the diameter of the pipe, usually at an angle of 90 °. Butt welded elbows shall be subject to surface treatment. The oxide scale on the internal and external surfaces shall be shot blasted off and then coated with anti-corrosion paint to facilitate transportation and prevent corrosion and oxidation. Intuitively, the short radius elbow is much shorter than the long radius elbow, and the bending radius of the elbow is very fast. Long radius elbow is the most commonly used, and it is also the long radius by default. The long radius elbow will be used in places with high pressure or high flow rate. If the resistance of solid conveying pipeline is strict, the elbow with larger radius will be used.
Short radius elbow is like the roundness of elbow machining, as well as the smooth transition at the arc of elbow, the surface scratch quality is increasing. Deep scratch reduces the strength of steel. But the forging diameter is generally small. When the short radius elbow is made of steel plate or section steel, it must meet the following requirements: the butt welding flange shall be subject to ultrasonic flaw detection without layering defects; it shall be cut into strips along the rolling direction of the steel, bent and butt welded into the ring of the flange factory, and the surface of the steel shall form the cylindrical surface of the ring.

Application
1, Long radius elbow is the most commonly used, and it is also the long radius by default.
2, The long radius elbow will be used in places with high pressure or high flow rate.
3, If the resistance of solid conveying pipeline is strict, the elbow with larger radius will be used.
4, Short radius is usually used in low-pressure fluid or where elbows are limited.
5, Long radius elbows are preferred if there are no conditions or are not specified in the contract.
