Description

Butt welding elbow is a steel hot pressed or forged elbow. Its connection form is to directly butt weld the elbow with the steel pipe. Carbon steel butt welding elbow is a kind of pipe fitting widely used in butt welding pipe fittings, also known as carbon steel elbow, which refers to the iron carbon alloy elbow with carbon content less than 2.11%. This is an elbow formed by steel hot pressing or forging technology. The connection method is to butt weld the elbow with the steel pipe, and weld the two work-pieces along the whole end face at the same time by resistance heat. Two welding methods, resistance butt welding and flash butt welding, are usually used. They are of high productivity and easy to realize automation, so they have been widely used. According to the pressure rating, there are about 17 kinds, which are the same as the American steel pipe standards, of which the most commonly used are STD and XS. 

According to the angle of elbow, there are 45 degrees, 90 degrees, 180 degrees and other different angles of butt welding elbow. Long radius elbow means that the radius of curvature of the elbow is 1.5 times the diameter of the pipe. It is the most commonly used, and it is also the long radius by default. Where the pressure is high or the flow rate is high, the long radius will be used. If the resistance of solid conveying pipeline is strict, the elbow with larger radius shall be used. Long radius elbows require control of the radius of curvature. For example, if the radius length is 1.5D, the radius of curvature must be within the required tolerance. In order to improve the welding quality, the end is beveled, with a certain angle and a certain edge. This requirement is also relatively strict. There are many requirements for the thickness of the edge, the angle and the deviation range. There are many more items than the pipe fittings in the geometric dimension. The surface quality and mechanical properties of the elbow are basically the same as that of the pipe. For the convenience of welding, the material of the steel of the connected pipe shall be the same.
