The swing reducer, referred to as the swing gearbox in construction machinery, is a key transmission part for excavators that bridges the slewing motor and large slewing gear ring. It realizes speed reduction and torque growth to support smooth full‑circle rotation of the upper superstructure.
Main Structural Parts
Sun Gear: Mated with slewing motor splines to receive high‑speed power supply.
Planet Gears: 3–4 gears in each stage orbit the sun gear while self‑rotating for torque transmission.
Ring Gear: Fixed firmly to the housing and meshes with planet gear assemblies.
Planet Carrier: Outputs driving force to operate the lower small drive pinion.
