Doosan Excavator Joystick Assy Cabin Control Pilot Handle DH-7 Series Excavator Machinery Parts
An excavator joystick is fundamentally a hydraulic pilot proportional control valve. Instead of directly driving machine motions, it delivers control‑signal hydraulic oil to actuate the main multi‑way valve, regulating the speed and direction of all movements. Mounted on the left and right inside the operator cabin, the excavator control lever—also called pilot control lever, hydraulic lever or joystick—is the core component for operators to command every machine function, acting as the excavator’s “steering wheel and manipulative limbs”.
Operating Mode
All excavator functions are controlled by tilting the joystick in different directions:
- Boom lifting (main arm)
- Stick extension and retraction (secondary arm)
- Bucket opening and closing
- Left‑right slewing of the upper structure
- Combined operation with foot pedal valves for traveling
Working Principle
Each handle integrates a built‑in hydraulic pilot valve:
- Tilt the handle → internal spool shifts
- Low‑pressure hydraulic control signal is generated
- Main multi‑way valve is actuated
- Corresponding cylinders or motors operate at variable speeds and directions
Proportional Speed Control
A larger handle tilt angle increases spool opening → raises output pilot pressure → widens main valve opening → speeds up boom, stick, bucket and slewing motions. Upon handle release, return springs reset the handle and spool to neutral, cutting the pilot oil circuit, releasing pressure, resetting the main valve, and instantly halting all movements.
