• An excavator’s main control valve functions as both the master control switch and flow‑distribution manifold of its hydraulic system, also referred to as a multi‑way valve or main valve. It forms the central valve control hub that governs all machine motions, such as boom lifting, arm retraction, bucket excavation, slewing, and forward‑reverse travel.

  Functions

  It receives high‑pressure hydraulic oil supplied by the main hydraulic pump.Manipulating the control handle triggers pilot oil to actuate each internal spool of the main control valve.
• High‑pressure oil is accurately allocated to corresponding cylinders and motors:Boom cylinder supply – boom raising and lowering
• Arm cylinder supply – arm extension and retractionBucket cylinder supply – bucket opening and closing
• Swing motor supply – machine slewing
• • Slow or under‑powered operation: Low main relief valve pressure, spool wear with internal leakage, seized negative‑flow or LS valves. Test system pressure, dismantle and inspect spools, and clean valve assemblies.
  • Jerky or fluctuating movement: Scuffed spools, fatigued springs, unstable pilot pressure. Refinish or replace spools and springs, then calibrate pilot pressure.
  • Oil leakage: Aged sealing elements, valve body fractures. Replace seals; repair cracks via welding or substitute the entire valve body when needed.
  • Uncoordinated combined actions: Stuck merging valves, failed load check valves. Clean merging valves and verify check‑valve sealing performance.
