Functions
Being the core power component of excavator hydraulic circuit, main pump converts engine mechanical power into high-pressure hydraulic oil to drive boom, arm, bucket, walking and swing hydraulic motors.
Classification
Axial variable piston pump is standard for excavators; medium & large excavators equip combined dual main pump plus rear integrated pilot gear pump.
Dual main pump works independently at 28~35MPa for compound movement; rear pilot pump works at 3~4MPa to supply pilot control oil for handles and valve spools.

Structure
Cylinder block with multiple pistons completes oil pumping while rotating; swash plate angle determines pump displacement; side regulator modifies swash plate position by hydraulic signal to adjust flow speed and fuel consumption; valve plate isolates inlet and high-pressure outlet.
Core Controls
Constant power reduces displacement with growing load to stop engine stall; LS control supplies needed flow only for fuel economy; pressure cut-off shrinks displacement to minimum at max pressure to protect hydraulic fittings.
Fault Description
Internal leakage or blocked regulator leads to slow machine speed; fixed large-displacement regulator causes overload stall and black exhaust; heavy leakage increases oil temperature; air ingress, lack of oil or damaged inner parts produce abnormal pump sound.
Maintenance Tips
Change hydraulic fluid and filters on schedule, seal oil suction pipeline and maintain standard oil level to extend pump service life.
