Working Role
Hydraulic main pump is the power origin of excavator hydraulic system, powered by engine to generate high-pressure hydraulic oil for boom, arm, bucket, walking and slewing hydraulic components.
Available Models
Most excavators install axial variable piston pumps; medium and large diggers use one-piece dual main pump with tail pilot gear pump. Main pump pressure 28~35MPa, pilot pump 3~4MPa for joystick and valve spool control.
Internal Parts Intro
Multiple pistons inside cylinder block finish oil suction and compression with shaft rotation. Swash plate angle directly controls pump displacement. Side regulator receives hydraulic signal to swing swash plate for flow adjustment. Valve plate separates low-pressure inlet and high-pressure outlet cavity.
Working Control Logic
Constant power shrinks pump displacement under heavy load to avoid flameout; LS control only supplies needed oil to cut idle fuel waste; pressure cut-off drops displacement to minimum to protect hydraulic accessories.
Repair Common Issues
Worn pistons/valve plate inner leakage or stuck regulator results in slow machine speed; regulator stuck on large displacement causes overload and black smoke; severe leakage makes hydraulic oil overheat; air or insufficient oil leads to abnormal pump noise.
Maintenance Suggestion
Replace hydraulic oil and filters regularly, block air from suction pipeline and maintain normal liquid level to reduce pump failure rate.
