The excavator hydraulic main pump is the primary power component of the hydraulic system, converting engine mechanical power into high-pressure hydraulic power to drive all hydraulic working units. Most excavators use axial variable piston pumps, while medium and large equipment adopts dual main pump structure with rear pilot pump assembly. The main hydraulic circuit operates at 28~35MPa and the pilot control circuit stably maintains 3~4MPa. Core components including cylinder block, piston groups, adjustable swash plate, side regulator and valve plate work together to change pump displacement, adjust flow rate and control fuel consumption. With constant power, load sensing and pressure cut-off functions, the pump avoids engine stall under heavy load, realizes energy-saving operation and prevents overpressure damage. Common failures such as weak excavation, overload smoke, high oil temperature and abnormal noise are mostly caused by internal wear, regulator blockage, air intake and insufficient oil, which can be improved by scientific daily maintenance.
