The hydraulic main pump acts as the core power source of excavator hydraulic systems. Driven by the engine unit, it transforms mechanical rotational energy into high-pressure hydraulic fluid to power boom, arm, bucket, travel and swing motors, covering all operational movements of the machine. Adopting the widely used axial variable piston structure, this pump is fitted on most construction excavators. Medium and large models adopt integrated dual main pumps with a rear-mounted pilot pump, delivering 28~35MPa high pressure for main hydraulic circuits and 3~4MPa low pressure for pilot control circuits. The complete pump assembly consists of cylinder block and piston sets, angle-adjustable swash plate, side-mounted flow regulator and valve plate. The regulator adjusts swash plate angle to change pump displacement, oil output and fuel consumption. Equipped with three intelligent control systems, it reduces displacement under heavy loads to avoid engine stall, delivers flow based on actual demand to save fuel, and minimizes displacement at peak pressure to protect hydraulic components. Common failures include slow and weak operation caused by internal leakage or stuck regulator, engine overload and black smoke due to fixed large displacement, hydraulic oil overheating from serious leakage, and abnormal noise triggered by air intake or insufficient oil level. Routine replacement of hydraulic oil and filters, well-sealed suction pipelines and standard oil levels can effectively reduce pump failure risks.
