Function
The main hydraulic pump is the core power of excavator hydraulic circuits. Driven by the engine, it converts mechanical energy into high-pressure hydraulic energy, and delivers pressurized fluid to hydraulic motors to drive all working motions.
Type
Construction excavators mostly use axial variable piston pumps. Mid and large excavators adopt integrated twin main pumps with a rear pilot gear pump.
Two independent high-pressure oil lines supply the main control valve for compound actions, with working pressure 28~35MPa.
The rear pilot pump works at 3~4MPa with low flow, providing control oil for levers and valve spools.

Internal Parts
Piston assemblies rotate with the main shaft to suck and pressurize oil. The swash plate adjusts angle to change pump displacement.
The external servo regulator controls the swash plate via hydraulic feedback. Larger angle brings higher flow and speed; smaller angle saves fuel.

Common Failures
Worn parts or blocked regulators cause internal leakage, leading to slow movement and weak power.
