Function
The swing hydraulic motor is the core power component of excavator slewing mechanism. Driven by high-pressure hydraulic oil supplied from main hydraulic pump, it converts hydraulic energy into rotary mechanical torque, matching with swing reducer to drive upper frame bidirectional 360° rotation above chassis, realizing flexible material discharge and position adjustment in construction works.
Structure
Internal composition includes rotary assemblies (piston sets, cylinder block, valve plate, slipper and retainer plate), integrated wet parking brake assembly, anti-reverse drift valve, pressure relief overflow valve and oil replenishment one-way valve assemblies. Supporting planetary swing reducer converts motor high-speed low-torque output into low-speed high-torque power, adapting to heavy-load slewing working conditions. The built-in brake piston and friction disc assembly automatically locks rotation position when hydraulic control oil is cut off.
Working Principle
Manipulating swing pilot handle delivers pilot pressure oil to push brake valve spool, releasing parking brake constraint. Alternating high-pressure oil entering two motor working ports drives piston reciprocating movement inside cylinder block; valve plate divides high-pressure inlet and low-pressure outlet passages continuously to drive rotary assembly and output shaft rotation. Anti-recoil balancing valve balances residual back pressure on oil return side, avoiding upper structure reverse rotation caused by inertia after stopping operation. Overflow valve restricts maximum working pressure to protect internal precision parts, and charge check valve supplements low-pressure oil to suppress internal cavitation generation.
Common Failures
Worn pistons, scratched valve plate sealing surface or burnt slippers cause severe internal leakage, featuring weak slewing force, slow rotating speed and slow stop response. Over-worn brake friction plates, fatigue brake springs or jammed brake spools lead to incomplete brake release, resulting in heavy rotation resistance, slewing jitter or parking skidding failure. Failed anti-drift balancing valve brings obvious backward drifting after swing shutdown. Massive internal leakage causes pressure loss heat generation and abnormal hydraulic oil temperature rise; damaged bearings or internal metal debris produce abnormal knocking noise during motor operation. Aging external seals cause hydraulic oil outward seepage.
Maintenance
Regularly check motor housing, sealing positions and pipeline joints for oil leakage signs. Replace hydraulic oil and filter elements periodically to prevent particle abrasion of internal precision matching surfaces. Inspect brake clearance and friction plate wear regularly, replace brake consumables once wear exceeds limit. Ensure drain oil pipeline is unobstructed to prevent excessive shell pressure buildup. Regularly test working status of charge valve and overflow valve, clean or replace stuck valve spools to ensure stable and smooth slewing performance and reliable parking braking function.
