12420021 is a standard size crankshaft thrust washer for DEUTZ MWM 620 series engines. It limits the axial movement of the crankshaft and is used together with main bearings 12420020 / 12420022.
1. Basic Information
- Part Number: 12420021 (OEM original part, standard thickness)
- Type: Thrust Washer (2 semi-circular pieces per set)
- Applicable Models: MWM TBG620 V12/V16/V20 and TBD620 series gas & diesel engines
- Material: Steel backing with babbitt alloy coating (same as main bearings), featuring excellent wear resistance and impact resistance
- Function: Restrict crankshaft axial play, bear axial thrust and keep the crankshaft in stable position
- Installation Position: Installed on both sides of the 4th main bearing, one piece on the top and one on the bottom

2. Technical Parameters & Installation
- Standard Axial Clearance: 0.10–0.20 mm. Replace the washer if the clearance exceeds the specified range.
- Installation Direction: Place the grooved side against the thrust surface of the crankshaft, and the plain side against the cylinder block. Keep the locating tabs facing outwards.
- Common Failures: Alloy layer wear, peeling and ablation, which will cause excessive crankshaft axial movement, abnormal noise and severe vibration.
- Overhaul Interval: Replace together with main bearings and connecting rod bearings every 8000–10000 operating hours.
