Product Overview

This series martensitic stainless solid shafts are produced through hot rolling and cold drawing forming process. The standard factory supply state is fully soft annealed for easy CNC machining; customers can conduct custom quenching and tempering heat treatment to reach target hardness values.

Without expensive nickel elements, martensitic shafts hold prominent cost advantages over austenitic stainless bar. Four grades are classified by carbon and nickel content to match different industrial load & wear demands: low-carbon 410 for ordinary machinery spindles; medium-carbon 420 for cutting tool and instrument blanks; nickel-containing 431 for high-pressure hydraulic shafts; ultra-high carbon 440C for precision bearing and wear-resistant fixture cores. Widely machined into pump spindles, valve stems, mold ejector shafts, bearing mandrels and mechanical transmission shafts for mold, hydraulic, petrochemical and general machinery industries.

Material Grade Characteristics
410 (UNS S41000 / 1.4006)

Low-carbon 13Cr basic martensitic steel. Soft after full annealing with excellent machinability; moderate hardness after quenching & tempering. Suitable for low-load pump shafts, general valve spindles and dry mechanical rotating parts with weak corrosive atmosphere.

420 (UNS S42000 / 1.4021)

Medium-carbon martensitic stainless steel with higher hardening capacity than 410. Balanced wear resistance and mild anti-rust property, ideal mold core shafts, surgical instrument spindles and hardware tool blanks.

431 (UNS S43100 / 1.4057)

Nickel-added martensitic grade. Extra nickel greatly improves impact toughness under cyclic heavy pressure, perfect for high-pressure hydraulic cylinder shafts and heavy-duty valve rotating components.

440C (UNS S44004 / 1.4125)

Highest carbon martensite with molybdenum additive. Achieves up to HRC62 after quenching & tempering with extreme abrasion resistance, premium raw material for precision bearing shafts and wear measuring fixtures.
