Product Description

Product Highlights

  • Monel K500 (UNS N05500, EN 2.4375) precipitation‑hardening nickel‑copper alloy forged tubesheet, manufactured per AMS4676 and ASTM B865; strengthened by aluminum‑titanium gamma‑prime precipitates, combining high mechanical strength with excellent nickel‑copper corrosion resistance
  • Outstanding seawater, brine, saltwater and non‑oxidizing acid corrosion resistance; excellent resistance to erosion‑corrosion and corrosion‑fatigue under marine, offshore and oil‑gas service conditions
  • Base material supplied in solution‑annealed condition; customizable aging heat‑treatment to achieve higher strength and hardness for heavy‑load heat‑exchanger pressure‑bearing applications
  • Good machinability for high‑density CNC multi‑spindle deep‑hole drilling; strict control on hole pitch, aperture tolerance and perpendicularity to guarantee reliable tube‑expansion and tube‑to‑tubesheet welding quality
  • Fully custom‑produced strictly according to customer CAD drawings; supports fixed‑tubesheet, floating‑head and U‑tube heat‑exchanger configurations
  • Compliant with pressure‑vessel forging specifications; third‑party witness inspection (SGS, TUV, BV) is available
  • Long‑term reliable performance for offshore seawater coolers, marine heat exchangers, oil‑gas process condensers and salt‑medium chemical heat‑transfer equipment

Product Overview

This Monel K500 forged tubesheet is critical pressure‑bearing component for heavy‑duty shell‑and‑tube heat exchangers. Produced from premium Monel K500 alloy ingot by multi‑direction open‑die upsetting and stretching forging, followed by solution annealing and stress‑relief heat‑treatment to obtain homogeneous full‑thickness metallographic structure, eliminating segregation and internal defects.

The alloy gains higher strength after aging precipitation hardening treatment. After rough machining, full non‑destructive testing and precision CNC deep‑hole drilling for tube‑hole array, the tubesheet is ready for tube bundle assembly via expansion or strength welding. Compared with Monel 400, K500 delivers significantly higher yield and tensile strength while preserving excellent seawater and brine corrosion resistance. Widely used for marine, offshore platform, oil‑gas and chemical heat‑exchanger equipment under corrosive salt‑containing working environment.

Material Grade Characteristics – Monel K500 (UNS N05500 / EN 2.4375)

  • Precipitation‑hardening Ni‑Cu alloy with Al and Ti additions; high strength obtained through low‑temperature aging heat‑treatment by forming gamma‑prime Ni₃(Al,Ti) precipitates
  • Excellent corrosion‑fatigue and erosion‑corrosion resistance in seawater, brine and salt‑containing media, immune to chloride‑induced stress corrosion cracking
  • Good toughness retained at cryogenic temperature, stable mechanical properties within service temperature range up to approximately 480℃
  • Acceptable weldability; post‑weld stress relief is recommended, aging treatment shall be performed after welding to restore full strength
  • Suitable for heavy‑thickness pressure‑bearing components requiring both high mechanical strength and superior marine corrosion resistance
