Product Overview
This custom 42CrMo forged tubesheet is heavy open‑die forged alloy steel component for pressure‑vessel shell‑and‑tube heat exchangers. Raw steel ingot goes through multi‑step upsetting & stretching forging to achieve dense metallographic structure, followed by quenching‑and‑tempering heat‑treatment to obtain balanced strength and toughness.
Compared with rolled plates, forged tubesheet delivers homogeneous through‑thickness mechanical performance and eliminates center segregation. After rough machining, NDT inspection and final precision CNC deep‑hole drilling, it supports high‑precision tube holes for expansion or welding assembly of heat‑exchange tubes. Widely adopted as core pressure‑bearing part for custom shell‑tube heat exchangers, condensers, reboilers and reactor internals under medium‑high pressure and medium‑high temperature working conditions.
Material Grade Characteristics – 42CrMo (42CrMo4 / 1.7225, AISI 4140)
- Cr‑Mo alloy quenched‑and‑tempering steel, obtains comprehensive mechanical performance via oil quenching plus high‑temperature tempering process
- High hardenability; thick cross‑section forgings still maintain stable strength and impact resistance
- Good resistance to fatigue under cyclic pressure and temperature fluctuation for pressure‑vessel working cycles
- Reliable high‑temperature mechanical property under continuous working temperature up to approx 500 °C
- Acceptable weldability with mandatory pre‑heating and post‑weld stress relief for field welding repair
- Specially designed for heavy‑section pressure‑bearing components requiring high strength, toughness and dimensional stability

Key Advantages
- Dense Forged Metallurgical Structure Multi‑direction open‑die forging eliminates internal shrinkage, porosity and segregation; uniform grain flow across full thickness, far superior to flame‑cut rolled plate for heavy thickness pressure‑vessel tubesheet.
- Balanced Strength & Toughness for Pressure Cycle Quenched‑and‑tempered treatment delivers high tensile / yield strength together with good impact toughness, resisting deformation and crack initiation under cyclic pressure‑temperature load.
- High Precision for Tube‑hole Machining Stabilized stress‑relieved condition minimizes machining distortion; supports dense array deep‑hole drilling with strict hole‑pitch, aperture and surface roughness requirements for tube expansion & welding quality.
- Wide Custom‑Size Capacity Wide range for diameter and thickness, one‑piece forging for large‑size tubesheet; adaptable for fixed‑tube‑sheet, floating‑head and U‑tube heat‑exchanger designs.
- Full Pressure‑vessel‑grade Quality Control Full set NDT, mechanical test and spectral analysis for each forging; meets international pressure‑equipment standards for global petro‑chemical and energy projects.
