Rubber O-Rings for Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems — Static and Dynamic Selection

Select hydraulic or pneumatic O-rings by inner diameter, cross-section and the exact elastomer compound. Identify whether the seal is static or moves against a rod, piston or bore. Provide the gland drawing, dimensional tolerances and required hardness; NBR, HNBR, FKM, EPDM and silicone are distinct material options.

For hydraulic service, specify the fluid formulation, additives, operating pressure and transient peaks. For pneumatic service, include gas composition, lubrication and pressure cycling. Moving seals also require speed, stroke, surface finish and friction requirements. Review extrusion clearance and any backup-ring arrangement with the gland design; a material name alone does not establish pressure capability or dynamic performance.
