Hammer Union Seal Introduction
Hammer union seals are replaceable elastomeric components fitted inside specified hammer union connections on oilfield pipework. Match the union figure, nominal connection size and seal profile before ordering. NBR, HNBR and FKM options must be selected for the fluid and service conditions; the seal alone does not establish the pressure rating of the connection.
Product Specification
1. Connection matching: Figure 602, 1002 and 1502 identify union configurations. Confirm the manufacturer, size and complete union rating; these figure numbers are not standalone seal pressure ratings.
2. Compound selection: Confirm the fluid composition, temperature and exposure conditions before choosing NBR, HNBR or FKM. Suitability depends on the specified compound.
3. Replacement fit: Check the sealing profile, groove condition and any anti-extrusion backing. Follow the equipment maintenance procedure when replacing the seal.
4. Variety of Sizes and Materials: Hammer union seals can be customized according to different pipe sizes and requirements, and there are also various materials available to suit different working environments and fluid media.
5. Assembly checks: A correctly matched seal supports connection sealing. Inspect mating parts and carry out the required assembly checks before returning the connection to service.
Hammer union seal spares: keeping figure and size references separate
Build the spare-seal order by union figure, manufacturer reference and nominal connection size. A 2 inch seal listed for one figure should not be assumed interchangeable with another figure or supplier design. The table distinguishes shaped seal options from Figure 206 O-ring references; confirm the exact dimensions and groove before substitution. Record the approved compound, hardness and any anti-extrusion backing for each spare part. Request separate identification on mixed-size batches and retain the approved drawing reference for repeat maintenance purchases.
