Material selection requires the fluid composition, additives, operating temperature and pressure cycle. Specify whether a brass or stainless steel anti-extrusion ring is required; the insert geometry and rubber profile must match the union seal pocket.

Sealing performance depends on the selected compound, seal dimensions, mating surfaces and complete union assembly. Confirm installation and inspection requirements for the actual equipment.

Hammer union figures and sizes use different seal profiles. Specify the figure, manufacturer drawing and seal-pocket dimensions to identify a lip seal or O-ring replacement; figure designations alone do not establish interchangeability.
Listed nominal sizes are 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 inches, subject to the selected figure and drawing. Nitrile, FKM and HNBR options require compound-specific review. Sour-gas service requires the actual gas composition, temperature, pressure, decompression conditions and applicable qualification evidence; polymer name alone does not establish suitability. Brass or stainless steel backup-ring options must be specified with the seal profile.
