Standard And Non Standard Heat Resistant Buna/HNBR/FKM/PTFE Hammer Union Seals For Oil Equipment Parts
Standard and Custom Hammer Union Seals — Temperature-Duty and Profile Selection
A hammer union seal is a type of seal that is used in hammer union-style pipe connections. Hammer unions are a type of quick-connect coupling that is used to connect two pieces of pipe together. They are often used in the oil and gas industry, as well as in other industries where it is important to be able to quickly connect and disconnect pipes.
Hammer union seals are made of a variety of materials, including elastomers, metal, and composite materials. Sealing performance depends on the approved seal profile, union condition, compound and installation. Hammer union seals are available in a variety of sizes and styles to accommodate different pipe sizes and applications.
Hammer union seals are a critical component of hammer union-style pipe connections. Select the seal to the exact union maker, figure and nominal size; pressure rating belongs to the complete connection.
Some profiles such as Fig 2202, Fig 1004, Fig 1502, Fig 2002, Fig 602, Fig 1002 etc require a Hammer Union Lip Seal or an 'O'Ring depending on the Size of the Hammer Union.
Nominal union-size references include 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 inches. Nitrile, FKM or HNBR grades are selected against actual fluid and temperature; sour-gas service requires compound-specific qualification. In addition to the standard molded rubber seals, we offer these with either a brass or stainless steel anti-extrusion ring.
| Size: | 1" 1.5" 2" 3" 4" 6" 7" |
| Material: | NBR, FKM or HNBR by approved compound; PTFE requires a separate construction review |
| Types: | rubber/ rubber+brass back-up/rubber+stainless back-up |
Here are some of the benefits of using hammer union seals:
Quick and easy installation: Follow the union-maker procedure and confirm profile, groove condition and support-ring seating before assembly.
Sealing fit: Confirm seal geometry and installation against the specified union; leak performance requires equipment-specific acceptance.
Durable: Wear and extrusion behaviour depend on the approved grade, support geometry and actual operating conditions.
Cost-effective: Hammer union seals are a cost-effective option for sealing hammer union-style pipe connections.
If you are looking for a reliable and cost-effective way to seal hammer union-style pipe connections, then hammer union seals are a good option.

Heat-Service Union Seals: Separate Continuous Temperature from Short-Term Peaks
| Temperature-duty item | Selection detail |
|---|---|
| Continuous exposure | Specify normal fluid and seal temperatures, exposure duration and fluid formulation. Approve the exact compound for this duty. |
| Transient peaks | Record peak temperature, duration, frequency and cooling conditions. A short-term peak is not a continuous operating limit. |
| Profile selection | Standard replacements require the original maker, figure and part reference. Non-standard seals require an approved drawing and fit tolerances. |
| Construction | Identify elastomer grade and hardness plus any brass or stainless backup. PTFE requires a separate design review and cannot share a universal elastomer rating. |
| Complete connection | Review union pressure limits and inspection requirements for actual temperature duty. Sour-gas exposure needs compound-specific qualification. |
