Customizable Rubber Packer Elements for High-Pressure Environments
Custom rubber packer elements in NBR, HNBR or FKM require a defined operating envelope and matching tool geometry. Specify differential pressure, pressure direction, temperature and fluid composition together. Cup-style seals and compression-set elements use different sealing mechanisms; identify the construction on the drawing. Drillability is a requirement for the complete tool and is not established by the rubber material alone.
Features of the rubber oil packer cups:
1) Review high-pressure requirements against the complete seal assembly, support clearances and selected compound.
2) Define leakage acceptance and pressure-hold duration for the intended operating conditions.
3) Available sizes and custom geometry are reviewed against an approved drawing or sample.
4) A 150°C (302°F) pressure test must specify the test compound, fixture, pressure and duration; confirm applicability before ordering.
5) If 30 pressure cycles are required, define the cycle range, dwell time and acceptance criteria.
6) Cup sizes up to a requested 30 inches require dimensional and manufacturing confirmation.
Application
Application environment: oil, gas, gas condensate
For oil, gas or condensate applications, the pressure specification should include normal operating pressure, transient peaks and differential pressure across the seal. Provide the mating metal geometry and clearances under load so that support and extrusion risks can be reviewed with the rubber compound.
We manufacture both Wire Skeleton / Wire Mesh / Wire Frame Packer Cups and Rubber Packer Cups without any mesh.
Nominal application sizes include 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5 inches. Provide the actual bore, element dimensions, mounting interface and tolerances; nominal tubing or casing size is not the finished seal outside diameter.
