Rubber O-rings for temperature and chemical exposure enquiries require a compound selected for the actual service. NBR, HNBR, FKM, EPDM and silicone are material families with different grades and limitations. This page supports compound and size selection; a material name alone does not establish an approved operating envelope.
 
Provide the minimum and maximum operating temperatures, exposure duration and exact chemical composition, including concentration and cleaning cycles. Confirm compatibility for the specified compound and seal arrangement before use. General references to extreme temperatures or chemical resistance are not universal ratings for all O-rings shown.

O-Ring Compound Selection for Temperature and Chemical Exposure

Describe both normal operation and short temperature excursions, with their duration. Include the chemical name, mixture composition and concentration rather than describing the medium only as oil, gas or chemicals.

State whether exposure is continuous, intermittent or part of a cleaning cycle. Include pressure, seal motion, inside diameter, cross-section and groove dimensions so the material and fit can be reviewed together.

For demanding service, agree the compound specification and any required compatibility testing before ordering. ISO 9001 refers to the manufacturing quality management system and does not establish a temperature or chemical rating for an individual seal.
