HNBR and FKM Hammer Union Seals for 1–4 Inch Nominal Connections

Royal Way® hammer union seals are replacement elastomer components for identified oil and gas union assemblies. This page covers HNBR and FKM options across the listed 1–4 inch nominal connections. Specify the union maker, FIG designation and seal drawing before selecting the compound.

Review HNBR and FKM candidates against the same fluid composition, temperature range and pressure-cycle requirements. The selected compound and complete union assembly require their own applicable performance verification. Polymer designation alone does not establish a pressure rating, leak-free operation or sour-service qualification.

HNBR or FKM: Define the Qualification Requirements Before Ordering

Provide the process-fluid composition and operating temperature, including start-up, normal service and peak conditions. List cleaning agents and exposure duration separately. Use these conditions to compare the proposed HNBR and FKM compounds rather than assuming either material family is suitable for every oilfield fluid.

For gas exposure, define pressure, gas composition and decompression conditions together with the required qualification method and acceptance criteria. Where sour service is specified, request the relevant compound documentation. HNBR or FKM naming by itself does not demonstrate that qualification.

For each nominal size, specify the union brand, FIG number, seal profile, nominal hardness and tolerance. Identify brass or stainless anti-extrusion parts separately. The reference table retains the original size options; confirm each order line against its assembly drawing and specify inspection and test requirements.
