Chemical-Service O-Ring Review: Formulation, Concentration and Exposure Sequence

Identify every process fluid by chemical name or product designation, including concentration, mixtures and additives. Provide operating temperature, pressure and exposure duration. This NBR listing does not establish resistance to all aggressive chemicals; review the selected compound for the actual service conditions.

Include cleaning, flushing and maintenance fluids as well as the normal process medium. State the sequence of exposure and whether contact is continuous, intermittent or incidental. A compound selected for the production fluid must also be evaluated for the cleaning cycle and any residual mixture.

Specify the AS568 dash number or nominal inner diameter and cross-section, tolerances and gland dimensions. Include acceptable swelling, hardness change, compression set and leakage criteria in the qualification plan. Select alternative polymers or an encapsulated construction through a separate compatibility and gland review, rather than assuming identical performance from the same ring size.
