A hammer union comprises of a thread end, a nut end and a hammer nut which, when cinched up, compresses a composite seal assembly thereby preventing leakage. The seal assembly comprises a metal insert of a size to pass into the seal groove of conventional hammer unions and a small seal acting between the insert, the thread end and the nut end. The small seal is conveniently an O-ring or a Hammer Union Seal (Lip Seal) and is of a size that is compressed when the seal assembly is inserted into the thread end of the hammer union.

The hammer union is the complete metal connection; the seal ring is its replaceable sealing element. Figure references including 602, 1002, 1502, 2002 and 2202 require their own manufacturer drawing and groove confirmation. Seal rings must not be assumed interchangeable between figures.

Available size : 1, 2, 3 and 4 inch nominal connection enquiries; confirm each seal drawing. A 5 inch or other custom size requires separate drawing review.

Material: HNBR (hydrogenated nitrile rubber) is the material focus for this black seal enquiry. Specify the exact compound and Shore A hardness with the seal drawing. NBR and FKM are separate elastomer choices; PTFE is a separate thermoplastic option.

Application: Replacement seals fit the specified groove within compatible oilfield hose or pipe union hardware. Provide the union figure, seal dimensions, fluid formulation and temperature for HNBR material review; the complete assembly determines connection performance.

HNBR Union Lip Seal Supply: Specify Drawing and Inspection Requirements

For an HNBR lip-seal sourcing enquiry, send the union figure, nominal size, original part reference and dimensioned lip-section drawing. Confirm whether the seal is plain elastomer or includes a brass or stainless support. Match the profile to the original groove rather than relying on product photographs.

State the HNBR compound, nominal Shore A hardness, dimensional tolerances and required inspection documents on the purchase specification. Agree the sample acceptance criteria and quantity for each drawing. Color, origin and polymer name do not establish equivalent compound performance.

Provide the fluid formulation, temperature range, pressure cycling and any gas exposure requirements for material review. Sour-service and decompression qualification require the exact compound and applicable test criteria. Request batch identification, packaging and shipment details with the confirmed quotation.
