Product introduction

A hammer union seal fits the sealing groove of a compatible union connection used between pipes and oilfield equipment. For a black custom-size replacement, specify the union figure, nominal connection size and seal drawing. Sealing performance depends on the compound, groove dimensions, mating surfaces and complete connection design.

Select the complete hammer union assembly for its specified pressure, temperature and fluid service. A replacement seal has no independent assembly pressure rating; sour-gas service requires compound-specific qualification.
Figure references such as 1502, 1002 and 602 identify connection families. Confirm the manufacturer drawing and seal groove for each figure; nominal size alone does not establish interchangeability.

Black Custom-Size Union Seal Orders: Control Drawing Revision and Compound Identity

Send a dimensioned seal drawing with revision number, inner and outer diameters, section profile and tolerances. Include any metal support ring or lip detail and the original union manufacturer reference. A nominal pipe size is a connection reference, not the finished dimensions of the rubber seal.

Black color can be specified for part identification, but it does not identify NBR, HNBR, FKM, PU or PTFE. Select one material and exact grade for each drawing. PTFE is a separate thermoplastic option; hardness scale, test method and target must suit the selected material.

For an oil-drilling replacement order, provide fluid formulation, normal and peak temperature, maximum operating pressure and quantity per drawing. Agree sample dimensions and fit criteria before production. Retain the part number and drawing revision on the order and packaging to distinguish otherwise similar black seals.
