     Rubber Hammer Union Replacement Seals for Specified Groove and Temperature

A hammer union comprises of a thread end, a nut end and a hammer nut which, when cinched up, compresses a composite seal assembly thereby preventing leakage. The seal assembly comprises a metal insert of a size to pass into the seal groove of conventional hammer unions and a small seal acting between the insert, the thread end and the nut end. The small seal is conveniently an O-ring or a Hammer Union Seal (Lip Seal) and is of a size that is compressed when the seal assembly is inserted into the thread end of the hammer union.

The hammer union is the complete metal connection; the seal ring is its replaceable sealing element. Figure references including 602, 1002, 1502, 2002 and 2202 require their own manufacturer drawing and groove confirmation. Seal rings must not be assumed interchangeable between figures.

Available size : 1, 2, 3 and 4 inch nominal connection enquiries; confirm each seal drawing. A 5 inch or other custom size requires separate drawing review.

Material: Specify NBR (nitrile/Buna-N) or HNBR as a separate compound choice for each seal drawing. Confirm exact grade, hardness and color requirements before ordering.

Application: Hammer union lip seals are replacement elements for compatible oilfield hose and pipe union grooves. Match the lip section and any support ring to the original drawing. Fluid compatibility and connection performance require review of the selected compound and complete hardware.

Hammer Union Seal or O-Ring: Confirm the Section Before Heat-Service Selection

Identify whether the union drawing requires a circular-section O-ring, a molded lip seal or a supported seal assembly. These constructions have different dimensions and groove requirements. Send the union figure, original part reference and section drawing before selecting a replacement.

For a heat-service enquiry, state normal temperature, peak temperature, exposure duration and fluid composition. Specify the exact NBR or HNBR compound and hardness, then review its data for the application. A general heat-resistant description or custom color does not establish an operating-temperature limit.

Provide pressure cycling and clearance requirements for the complete union hardware. Select color for agreed part identification and keep the drawing revision, compound and construction on the order. Sour-gas or decompression duties require compound-specific qualification.
